Skyparks at Malta International Airport, the 3,100 square metre project designed by EM Architects is the first building in Malta to obtain BREEAM certification.
The breathable façade showcases a sleek and modern contemporary development with its uniqueness acting as a positive impression to passengers arriving and departing Malta. This is done without sacrificing the performance requirements which are dictated by the unique local conditions, sustainability objectives, demanding schedules and budget constraints. Furthermore, a stronghold behind the chosen façade system is to heavily reduce the need for mechanical ventilation within the car park together with the need for electrical lighting systems. The louvers also offer a degree of protection to the natural elements as these act as shading devices in that they part reflect the sun’s rays and shield the cars on the periphery from wind and rain.
